- 1 1/2 cups Poha
- 2 tbsp Mustard oil or ghee
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 10-12 Curry leaves
- 1 big Onion: chopped
- 1 Green Chilli: finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric
- ½ cup Green Peas: boiled/ frozen
- ½ cups Peanuts: roasted
- 1 ½ tsp + ¼ tsp Salt:
- 1 tsp Sugar (powdered)
- Lemon juice: of half a lemon
- 1/4 tsp Asafetida powder (hing)
- 2-3 tbsp Green coriander: finely chopped
Instructions to make to make Pohe
- In a colander wash the poha with lots of running water. Keep it aside.
- Heat oil in a wok/ kadhai. Add the mustard seeds. Once they splutter add the curry leaves.
- Add the onions and mix well. At this time, add the turmeric and ¼ tsp of salt as well as well. This helps in cooking the turmeric properly. Let the onions cook.
- In the meanwhile fluff up the washed poha with the fork. Now mix the 1 ½ tsp salt, sugar, asafetida and lemon juice in the soaked poha using the fork.
- Once the onions turn light golden. Add the boiled peas and roasted peanuts. Mix well.Now add the seasoned poha to the kadhai. Mix well.
- Cover and cook on low flame for 1-2 minutes. Finally add the green coriander and serve hot.
